Since its inception, Ohio-based alternative rockers SINDUST have progressed a great deal with each new musical release, culminating with their latest offering…..the newly released 14-song back from the back. This new disc, which is the band's fifth release, features the distinct SINDUST sound with all lyrics written by lead vocalist/guitarist Chris Donley and all music by Donley & SINDUST.

As one of the group's founding members, lead vocalist/guitarist Chris Donley has written virtually thousands of songs, having started young at age 13 or 14. He grew up listening to bands like Chicago, Poison, Megadeth & Metallica while teaching himself to play guitar……..his parents gifted him with his first in eighth grade. Donley later taught himself to play bass and keyboards as well, while becoming influenced by groups including The Smashing Pumpkins, Pantera, Jane's Addiction & The Deftones.

He first met SINDUST drummer Tom Phillips at Ashland University, where they both earned degrees, while the two were playing in separate bands……Donley playing bass & doing vocals for the group Chisel and Phillips drumming for Vyle. A mutual musician friend introduced them; they hit it off musically and SINDUST was formed in the very late 90's. Phillips grew up in a somewhat musical household………listening to his dad playing The Doors, Three Dog Night, Jimi Hendrix and Iron Butterfly. His parents got him a toy drum set at age four to keep him from banging on the kitchen pots & pans, but his first serious musical instrument was the cello, which he started playing in 4th grade at school. A real drum kit came shortly after that, in 6th grade, and Phillips later became influenced by bands like Led Zeppelin, Rush and Phish.

Donley & Phillips soon found other musicians with the right chemistry to round out the SINDUST sound. Since then, there have been some personnel changes and the current line up features powerful guitarist Aaron Nichols and bass player extraordinaire Mark Gordon. Nichols, who joined the band in 2002, grew up in Wooster, Ohio listening to his mother's 70's R & B favorites like The Temptations, Tina Turner & Michael Jackson, and his dad's 70's rock classics like Creedence Clearwater Revival, Rush and Black Sabbath. He later did a stint in the Marines….stationed for a time in Okinawa, Japan.

Mark Gordon is the newest member of SINDUST, having joined the band in 2005. Prior to that he played with various top Cleveland area bands including Front and Ann E. Dechant. He credits bands like Public Enemy, Pantera, 311 and The Red Hot Chili Peppers with influencing him over the years.

The SINDUST sound has progressed a great deal over a period of four or five years, which is evident in the band's live performances and on their various CD releases. First came the raw 5-song self-titled EP, followed by their infamous first full-length disc Kiss Of The Napalm, which sold close to 4000 copies regionally and got the attention of MTV executives, who used music off the disc on 5 episodes of MTV's Undressed series. Their next offering was the Live Hot Sex CD, followed by Sucking The Inspiration, which was also featured on MTV's Undressed. All this led to SINDUST'S most recent release…….the edgy, yet radio friendly Back From The Back.

SINDUST continues to perform at all the top rock venues throughout Ohio, including Cleveland, Columbus and all over the Midwest. The band recently did a very successful show in New York City and will be playing there again as part of a planned series of tour dates in the Northeast.
